A new build flagship imaging department at York Hospital to provide significantly improved care for patient as an extension to the hospital’s main building. The type of procedures carried out in the department include:

• Diagnosing problems with blood flow (aneurysms etc)
• Insertion of balloons, stents, pacemakers etc.
• Hybrid Theatre on the first floor (with associated Post Anaesthesia Care Unit)
• Vascular Labs (and ancillary accommodation) on the ground floor
• Clinical services across Radiology, Cardiology and Vascular Surgery.

The proposed development will create a new flagship Vascular Imaging Unit (VIU) to meet an identified clinical need at the existing York Teaching Hospital and provide for enhanced diagnosis and care. The new building is located at the south entrance to the hospital next to the pedestrian footpath known as Bridge Lane and will be three storeys high providing 3,055 m2 of floor space. CAD21 designed all of the building services systems including a comprehensive Revit technical design model.
